The Route Less Taken

There was a friend of mine who was caught in a traffic violation and was fined, the episode ended there. But what followed latter was a night mare to all of us. A few days latter there was a phone call from a person who claimed to be somebody related to the police department and the federal court, the person did not clearly explain his designation but was threatening my friend with the violation which he had done and the consequences of it. My friend was thoroughly confuse and was also getting jittery and lost control of the situation, the person who claimed to be an authority asked for the social security number. My friend being in a desperate situation to get relieved of the trouble handed over the social security number which gave a bad turn. The sequence of events that followed were trouble some and in the due course lost handsome money as the person who spoke to him was a hacker. It was from this event that all of us learnt a lesson that some identity theft protection measure should be taken to save all the trouble.
